Gold (fiat) transactions

Some tasks include gold (USD) escrow on stages marked by the initiator. Payments are processed by Stripe; assignees receive funds through Stripe Connect. Points (NRG) rules on the platform are separate—this page only covers fiat / USD.

Who is involved

  • Initiator (task publisher) — pays the listed USD amount for a gold stage (pre-authorization / capture follows Stripe and in-app flow). Must keep a valid default payment method where required.
  • Assignee (stage owner) — completes the stage and receives the payout side of the gold transfer after capture, subject to platform fee, Stripe fees, your Connect settings, and any cooling period.
  • Pairag — provides matching and collaboration; retains a platform service fee as a Stripe application fee on eligible charges. Exact settlement timing and statements are ultimately shown in Stripe.

End-to-end flow (typical)

  1. Recruit & assign — an assignee is confirmed for the gold stage.
  2. Alignment & gates — recruiting-phase checks (e.g. initiator payment readiness and assignee Connect readiness) must pass before execution can start.
  3. Pre-authorization — initiator authorizes the listed USD amount for that stage (manual capture / PaymentIntent flow in the product).
  4. Execute — work proceeds; chat and artifacts follow normal task rules.
  5. Acceptance & capture — only the initiator may approve review and trigger Stripe capture for gold (with funds password when required). Gold stages do not auto-capture on idle review deadlines.
  6. Cooling period — after capture, a platform-defined cooling window may apply before payout-related steps advance.
  7. Statements — initiators, assignees, and the platform each rely on Stripe Dashboard / Connect balances for authoritative fee lines, FX, taxes-on-fees (if shown), and payouts.

How your payout is calculated (assignee / party B)

Let S be the listed stage amount in USD shown on the task (what the initiator authorizes for that stage). Amounts below are conceptual; Stripe’s receipt and Balance transaction for that charge are authoritative.

  • Platform service fee20% of S, rounded down to the next whole cent (e.g. US$3.00 → US$0.60). This is collected as Stripe’s application fee on the charge.
  • Stripe fees — processing and related charges shown by Stripe on the payment (e.g. processing fee). These reduce what remains for the Connect side after the application fee is allocated.
  • Settlement currency & FX — if your Connect account pays out in a non-USD currency (e.g. HKD), Stripe converts using its rates and may show currency conversion and taxes on fees separately. Your net deposit is the amount after those lines.

Intuition: funds available on the assignee Connect side are roughly S − platform fee (20% floor to cents) − Stripe fees (and any FX/tax lines Stripe applies) — always verify against that charge’s detail page in Stripe.

Numeric example

If S = US$3.00, the platform service fee is US$0.60. The remainder (about US$2.40 before Stripe fees) is then reduced by Stripe processing / FX / taxes-on-fees as shown for your account. If Stripe quotes a HKD net after conversion, use that HKD net as the practical “what landed” figure for that payout path.

Where to see the breakdown

Open Stripe Connect (Express / Standard as you onboarded) for the signed-in assignee account and locate the Payment / Charge / Balance transaction for that task’s capture. Pairag surfaces task status in-app; fee lines, FX, and payout currency are displayed by Stripe.

Cooling period

After capture, the product may enforce a cooling window before certain payout-related milestones. Duration follows in-app copy and backend policy for your environment.
